Priscilla Presley is making moves. The former wife of Elvis Presley has placed her longtime Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $16 million after she bought it in the 70s. Built in 1951, the private estate has long been protected from prying eyes, and for the first time in 45 years, we have a chance to take a peek inside.
Located in one of the world's most exclusive zip codes, 90210 in Beverly Hills, the 8,952-square-foot storybook-style residence boasts seven bedrooms, eight-and-a-half bathrooms, a tiled swimming pool, and a tennis court.
Priscilla Presley described the estate as a sanctuary because it is set behind a gated entryway, and is tucked between lush trees offering a mix of splendor and privacy.
Brick walkways and patios, fountain features, gardens, and creeping vines give the mansion a relaxing feel.
Inside, the living room displays such character details as vaulted ceilings, exposed beams in dark wood, matching framed archways and multiple sets of French doors.
The cream color of the walls compliments the dark wood ceilings and the white stone fireplace.
Dark wood carries throughout the home. The library/den room is characterized by dark wood ceilings, window panes, several comfortable sofas. Priscilla Presley must have enjoyed many special moments here.
A Steinway & Sons grand piano sits below a crystal chandelier at the corner of a sitting room. The leaded-glass window fills the space with dewy natural light.
The red velvet curtains provide privacy for the dining room and give the home a medieval feel.
There are seven bedrooms, which are spread throughout the multi-level home. The master suite comes complete with a fireplace and a cabinet with family photos on it. The curtains provide a relaxing atmosphere and make the room brighter.
Off the suite is a large balcony, featuring a red stone floor and wrought iron railing. You can take in the view of the backyard and the swimming pool from here.
The glamorous curtains make this bathroom look like it's straight out of a fairy tale. The large ensuite has double sinks and mirrors on a dark wood vanity. It must be relaxing to bath here after a long day.
This walk-in shower is small but functional.
Brick steps lead from the house to this tiled swimming pool.
This outdoor seating area is situated next to a stone fireplace, which provides a perfect setting for cozy evenings.
The all-but-hidden grass tennis court adds to the property's luxe amenities and is in keeping with the home's European ambiance.
Priscilla, 75, was married to the legendary singer Elvis Presley from 1967 to 1973. Before Elvis’ death in 1977, Priscilla bought this house so Elvis could be close to their daughter Lisa Marie, who is now 52.
