On their 1st anniversary, Terry gave Anna a handmade necklace that left her overcome with joy. However, there was a hidden secret waiting to be discovered. What had Terry been planning all along?
Destiny can be tricky. Who knows when 2 friends will finally realize that they're meant for each other and fall in love? This was exactly the case for Terry and Anna. After 4 years of friendship, they were officially together!
As time slipped by, they approached the most important day for any couple: the 1st anniversary. Romance is a must, but how romantic should Terry be to make the day memorable? He had decided. If there was one thing that represented the heart itself, this was it...
Nothing is better than a hand-made present. Even though Terry wasn't the most ingenious person in the world, he has a heart of gold. From choosing the material to grinding the shape, he had done everything himself. The necklace was not all his surprise; there was a hidden secret that had yet to be revealed...
Why the Tasmanian Wood? Terry chose it for a reason. Tasmanian Wood is known for its high quality. With its hard and delicate texture, Terry hoped that a necklace made with it would last for years, just like their love.
The day had finally come! As foodies, how could they miss that chance to have a special dinner together? However, this time Terry, with his mission possibly impossible, didn't fully enjoy it. As the dinner went on, the jewelry box in his pocket grew heavier, just like the One Ring in Bilbo's.
Terry saw his hands shaking as he took out the necklace. He knew that Anna wasn't a jewelry person. Would she take it or refuse it? He had been overcautious. Anna was more than thrilled, and she loved the necklace! Who doesn't love a gift crafted with the heart anyway?
Anna touched the smooth wood on her chest, knowing that the necklace would follow her wherever she went. She was right. The necklace was spotted everywhere, whether at family gatherings, girlfriends' hangouts, or on the couple's travels.
The first time she realized that all was not as it seemed was when her curious friends asked her for more details, "But what was the story behind it?" Anna paused. She didn't know. She didn't know at all. However, she never asked since Terry had never told her.
Terry was thrilled to see how much his girlfriend treasured their token of his love. Yet he had worries: no matter how well a secret is kept, there will be one day that it will be eventually revealed. He knew that the day was coming soon...
Terry had something big planned: a trip abroad together. He wanted to reach the world's end, and there he would tell her the truth. However, things just couldn't go smoothly like that, could they?
Unexpectedly yet unsurprisingly, Anna refused the plan: even if she longed to explore the outside world, she was too scared of flying. Terry couldn't bear to see her trapped by fear and worry, so he changed the plan to a road trip within Australia. Would Australia be the place where the story eventually unfolded?
It is always the happiest thing to travel with the one you love and share your feelings. Terry couldn't deny that, but he knew from the bottom of his heart that Australia was not the place where the magic would happen, for it lacked a sense of something. The only thing he knew was that he had to find the right moment quickly. Otherwise, he would go crazy.
A year after the road trip, Terry thought then was the ideal time for his big plan. This time, traveling abroad was something they must do, not just for fun but also so he could reveal his long-hidden secret. Was there a place so perfect that Terry would venture everything to go?
Scotland was the chosen place. They passed the usual attractions visitors would go to and decided to go up north to a place of pure natural beauty. However, would they be able to board the plane successfully?
Why was boarding the flight a problem? It was not because of Anna's aviophobia but her necklace. What if the necklace beeped during the security check? What would he do if it did beep? Would he just reveal the secret at the crowded airport?
The moment that worried Terry had finally come. Walking down the security line behind Anna, Terry unconsciously held his breath and couldn't move his eyes… Nothing happened! The necklace didn't beep because of the secret! "Now here we go, Scotland!" Said Terry to himself in his heart.
After an agonizingly long flight, they were in Scotland at last. Towering mountains, glittering lochs, dense woodlands all laid within their grasp. As they were impressed by what they saw, the most crucial scene was approaching...
Smoo Cave, located in the Durness, in the Highlands of Scotland, was the end of their journey and was where the secret was to be revealed. Why in this particular cave? Because it was initially two caves that were joined together over time. Just like Anne and Terry, two individuals that had merged into one as time went by, right?
On that day, Terry tried to stay calm, but he just couldn't. No one could blame him because it would be a turning point in their relationship. Only when he was sure that Anna had got the necklace steady on her chest did he fumble the key into the ignition. Butterflies! Butterflies in his stomach, in his chest, in his brain!
Fear was engulfing Terry, and he stopped Anna appreciating the view, "Can I borrow your necklace for a sec?" Handing the necklace, Anna noticed her boy's hands trembling. Just before she could ask, Terry smashed it open in no time...
A ring, so simple yet so pure, laid inside the wood. Anna was heartbroken that Terry had destroyed their anniversary gift when she heard his proposal. Life always brings infinite happiness after collapsing one's world. "Yes!" Crying out the loudest yes as Anna put on the secret on her ring finger...
"I could've lost the necklace, you fool!" Anna shouted. Holding her in his embrace, Terry laughed, "Well, you didn't lose it. I knew you wouldn't." Was she mad at him for keeping the secret? Of course not! He was a darling to her all this time.
"The course of true love never did run smooth," Wrote Shakespeare. However, Anna and Terry went along with time and eventually became one. Happiness is in their hands. And the necklace? Don't worry. It has been fixed.
