Dale Earnhardt Jr. Spent $900,000 Renovating His Florida House, And This Is The Result

Legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy renovated one of their Florida properties in a reality TV show. However, redesigning a house was much more difficult than they expected. What did this mansion that cost almost $1M turn out to be? Let's see!

1. A Key West Flip

In 2015, Dale and his wife Amy bought this historical mansion in Key West for $1.2 million. When they first saw this house, it was very dilapidated, but it didn’t put them off. They redesigned this house on a DIY Network reality TV show, "Renovation Realities: Dale Jr. & Amy" in 2018. However, the beginning of the renovation was not smooth.

Termites, cat poop, spiders, bees and scorpions were everywhere in the house. Their job was made even tougher, with further setbacks occurring because of Hurricane Irma, which shut down the renovations for five weeks. But luckily, they overcame the difficulties in the end, and it was worth the effort.

They spent almost a year renovating their property. Let's take a look at how it looks now! Here are the open kitchen and living room. The kitchen received marble countertops with reclaimed wood beams and copper light fixtures. The style of the whole room is pretty consistent and relaxing.

Originally, there wasn't enough storage space in the house, so they decided to be more creative and designed a closet under the stairs. Isn't it ingenious and neat?

Can you believe this place was an old, broken-down shed before? They almost tore it down but instead turned it into a small dining area with shiplap walls. It's now Amy's favorite room.

6. The Master Bedroom

This is their master bedroom. It has large doors with double-paned windows that lead to the balcony. They used an old door to create a sliding barn door for the master bathroom.

The master bathroom looks very simple but comfortable. These cabinets have greatly improved space utilization for the couple.

8. DIY Swimming Pool

It's worth mentioning that Dale and Amy got hands on with the excavator and dug out the entire pool by themselves. They enjoyed the process and finished the big project within three days. The result is amazing!

9. What Does The Pool Look Like?

Can't believe this awesome pool was made by the couple themselves! It includes water features and a step-up spa. It's directly accessible from Amy's favorite small dining room.

10. The Deck

How nice it is to lie on a deck chair in the sunshine. Dale and Amy made it possible in their own house! The French doors open to allow them to relax in the breeze indoors and outdoors.

11. The Outdoor Kitchen

They also built an outdoor kitchen which includes a slate countertop fashioned from an old, broken heap of a pool table. Noteworthily, the bricks used for the backsplash are about 100 years old.

They maximized the original materials in the house. For example, the sink basin in the outdoor bathroom is a block crafted from the home's foundation. This natural stone block has been smoothed down and polished.

This part is Dale's favorite. But can you believe that the background plate was fully handmade? It was painted by Kevin McCree, who also paints his race cars.

This outdoor area has dark hardwood flooring with light blue accents. It looks like a nice relaxing place to spend the day.

It was Dale's first time renovating a house. He enjoyed the process and got a sense of fulfillment in doing so.

16. A $900,000 Renovation

This renovation couple cost about $900,000. The house has 5,968 square feet of living space with three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. They finally sold it in 2018 for $2.6 million.

Dale and Amy will never forget their first DIY renovation project. They also appreciated the efforts of the production team, who recorded the whole process.
