Speaking of celebrities who have had their fair share of romantic rumors, Dances With Wolves star Kevin Costner must be high on the list. After experiencing everything from deception and infidelity all the way to divorce, the award-winning actor has finally found his soulmate. Here is a glimpse into his romantic adventure.
When Kevin studied at California State University, Fullerton, he met his first love – Cindy Silva, a raven-haired beauty who was a homecoming queen nominee at CSUF. It was love at first sight, and the two tied the knot in 1978. They went on to welcome three lovely children into the world. Their marriage was just perfect. Meanwhile, Kevin's career took off, too.
His blockbuster 1990 film 'Dances With Wolves' won him six Oscars, which was a credit to the couple's work together. Kevin worked on the film set while Cindy did some stage managing and hosted morale-boosting film crew parties. However, after a while, rumors began to swirl.
Soon afterward the rumor that Kevin had cheated on his wife had hit the tabloids. In 1987, he explained, "I have a big thirst. A big taste for things...I hate the fact that I've lived by somebody else's rules, and I've somehow missed out on something." Though fans were taken aback by that different side of him, they were not surprised at what had happened.
Unsurprisingly, after 16 years together, the two ended their marriage in 1994. Kevin's friends described him as a man who instinctively came on to any woman he felt attracted to. He even once admitted that he had a real appreciation for women. And the truth was that he was a man of his word.
Aside from the divorce, Kevin's affair brought him something quite unexpected – a fourth child. After taking a paternity test to prove that Bridget Rooney was really pregnant with his child, she gave birth to Liam Costner in 1996, a mere two years after his divorce.
During the dark days of his marriage to Cindy, Kevin was also rumored to be having an affair with Halle Berry, a rising star, in 1989. They were said to have been dating when Halle starred in 12 episodes of Living Dolls. Nevertheless, there wasn't any confirmation of the rumors, and today they still hang out together as friends.
It's hard to say whether or not Kevin has a weakness for women, but he did fail to resist the temptation to court "Batman Returns" actress Michelle Pfeiffer. And the interesting part is that both Bridgett and Michelle played the feline Batman character, the same one Halle would later portray.
Before too long, Kevin found that couldn't keep his eyes off Bobbie Jean Brown, the sultry actress whose claim to fame was starring in Warrant's "Cherry Pie" video. Like all the other rocker boys who got the hots for her, Kevin was featured in her memoir.
In fact, it was not the only memoir that mentioned Kevin. TV star Peggy Trentini also included Kevin in her 2012 memoir after they hooked up not long after his separation with Cindy. According to Peggy, Kevin was fun and sexy, but not a falling-in-love type.
In 1995, Woody Allen's romantic comedy Mighty Aphrodite caught Kevin's attention, with Mira Sorvino's award-winning portrayal of a carefree prostitute drawing him in. Recognizing Mira as an upcoming Hollywood starlet, he wooed her on her rise to fame. Their love sparked in 1993, a year before his divorce, and diminished at the same speed.
It seems that Kevin Costner had an effect on the women he had affairs with. Holly Sampson was one such example. The affair took place in 1994 while Kevin was still married. By the time they got together, the actress had already starred in movies like The Wonder Years, Matlock, and Beauty and the Beast, but afterwards she only seemed to feature in more adult film roles.
The divorce freed Kevin to pursue a single life. To make up for the lost time of being married, he tried to go after something different. In the mid-1990s, his rumored affair with supermodel Naomi Campbell hit the tabloids once again.
The rumors appeared to keep on coming. This time it was Karin Reznack, an actress known for starring in Her Alibi and Clara's Heart. Rumor had it that Kevin and Karin got together in the early 1990s, before Karin moved on and married the notable film director John Bryum in the late 1990s.
Kevin's significant influence on women is undeniable. In the late 1990s, Brigit Cunningham dated Kevin for three years, but the relationship didn't last, and ended up with Brigit going on to recover from alcohol abuse due to the breakup. Despite that, she was loyal to Kevin. When Kevin was involved in a lewd scandal after receiving a massage in 2004, Brigit stated that her Mr. Perfect would never do anything so vulgar.
Kevin was on a streak in 1995. The news that model Angie Everhart was having a dinner date with Kevin went viral at the time. But the fling didn't last long. Likewise, Kevin was rumored to have briefly dated the Friends star, Courtney Cox, which too ended abruptly. Besides those stunners, another fashion beauty - Cheryl Tiegs - also became his girlfriend for a time.
Kevin has never slowed down to search for love. This time, it was Joan Lunden, the host of ABC's popular Good Morning America. Coinciding with the Waterworld promotion, the affair quickly took the media by storm. Sadly, this intense media attention severed this relationship.
In 1996, Kevin decided that he would leave his bachelor's life behind and he began dating the Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson. Charmed by the talented and beautiful Elle, Kevin moved in with her, longing for a stable relationship. Unfortunately, it was another short-lived relationship.
While Kevin had seemed to be ready for a serious relationship, he slipped into another affair and lived a single life once again. Italian-French Supermodel and pop singer Carla Bruni was the apple of his eye this time.
Over the next couple of years, Kevin received many accolades for his films The Postman and Tin Cup. As his career progressed, Kevin enraged another friend, actor John Travolta due to his flirtatious nature. During the filming of For the Love of the Game, he was rumored to have hooked up with his co-star and John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston. As you can imagine, that would definitely cause a man to lose his mind.
After seeing it all, Kevin's search for love would finally come to fruition. Swooning over the model Christine Baumgartner when they ran into each other again in 1998, he popped the question. After finding true love, the classic single guy had begun to change. This time, he stayed faithful. Three years after their marriage, the couple welcomed their son Cayden into their family.
In 2009 and again the next year, the family welcomed a son and a daughter. From boasting about how good his single lifestyle was, to taking pride in his kids' accomplishments, Kevin has come a long way as a responsible father. Perhaps making movies can still be fulfilling for him, but nothing can compare to fatherhood. When you're a father, you'll know you get to go home.
